Farmington Hills, Michigan. AlphaTherm today announced that it has completed a long term License Agreement with KCW Corporation
of Korea (a member of the Kyung Chang Industrial Group) regarding its proprietary heated windshield washer system technology. In
addition, AlphaTherm has sold KCW a production line to enable it to rapidly begin production of the MH-3500 heated wash unit for its
OEM customers. AlphaTherm will assist KCW with the installation of the production line in Korea and the training of KCW associates in
producing the MH-3500. AlphaTherm will continue to produce heated wash units for the aftermarket from its Farmington Hills location
and will also explore other OEM licensing opportunities.
AlphaTherm representative Joe Trubak said that “over the last six months we have had discussions with several qualified automotive
suppliers that were interested in licensing our heated wash technology. We concluded that KCW is in the best position to quickly bring
the AlphaTherm technology to the OEM market through its longstanding relationships with leading OEMs that have previously
expressed interest in offering heated wash systems on their vehicles.”
Mr. Kim Seung Bo, President of KCW spearheaded KCW’s effort to secure the license with AlphaTherm and attended the signing of the
License Agreement in Farmington Hills. Mr. Kim commented that “we have followed the development of heated wash systems in recent
years and concluded that the AlphaTherm is by far the most proven and patent protected technology in the world. We are quite
optimistic that we will be able to quickly complete the technology transfer and begin offering this important safety and convenience
feature to our OEM customers”.
AlphaTherm, headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan is focused on the development of heated wash technology for the automotive
industry. AlphaTherm acquired the assets of Micro-Heat Corporation in early 2009 and has dedicated itself to re-introducing heated
wash systems to the automotive OEM and aftermarket industries on a worldwide basis.
KCW, headquartered in Daegu, Korea, is a diversified automotive supplier. Founded in 1961, KCW and its parent company (Kyung
Chang Industrial) design, develop and manufacture automotive systems, assemblies, modules and components for sale to original
equipment manufacturers of cars and trucks. In particular, KCW supplies windshield wipers and wiper systems to several Asian OEMs,
most notably Hyundai and Kia.
